Shul Policies & Procedures

Welcome

These policies are designed to maintain a warm, respectful, and spiritually uplifting environment for all congregants, visitors, and guests while preserving the sanctity and traditions of our shul.

1. Purpose and Mission

The shul exists to provide a welcoming environment for prayer, Torah study, community engagement, and the promotion of Jewish values in accordance with Chabad-Lubavitch traditions.

2. Respect for the Sanctity of the Shul

All members and visitors shall conduct themselves with dignity and respect, recognizing the synagogue as a sacred place dedicated to prayer and learning.

3. Attendance and Participation

Members are encouraged to attend daily, Shabbat, and holiday services and participate in educational and community programs whenever possible.

4. Dress Code

  • Men should wear a kippah (head covering).
  • Married men are encouraged to wear a tallit during services.
  • Modest dress is expected of all attendees.

5. Prayer Conduct

Congregants should maintain decorum during services, refrain from unnecessary conversation, and avoid disruptions during prayer or Torah reading.

6. Cell Phones and Electronic Devices

All electronic devices must be silenced before entering the sanctuary. Use is prohibited on Shabbat and Yom Tov. No phone conversations in the sanctuary except emergencies.

7. Seating Arrangements

Seating follows established shul custom, including separate seating where applicable. High Holiday seating requires RSVP and is not guaranteed without reservation.

8. Torah and Sacred Objects

All sacred items (Torah scrolls, siddurim, chumashim) must be treated with respect and returned properly after use.

9. Children in Shul

Children are welcome but must be supervised by parents or guardians to ensure they do not disturb services.

10. Food and Beverage Policy

Food and drinks are permitted only in designated areas and approved events. Outside food is not permitted unless from a pre-approved kosher caterer.

11. Facility Cleanliness

Members and visitors are responsible for maintaining cleanliness and removing personal items and trash after use.

12. Security Procedures

All attendees must comply with security procedures, including sign-in, identification requests, and instructions from security staff.

13. Visitor and Guest Policy

Guests are welcome and should be greeted warmly and assisted with participation and seating.

14. Event Scheduling

All events and private functions must be approved by the Rabbi or designated leadership and scheduled through the shul office.

15. Volunteer Responsibilities

Volunteers must act respectfully, maintain confidentiality when required, and follow synagogue policies.

16. Financial Policies

All financial contributions and expenses must follow proper procedures and be accurately recorded.

17. Conflict Resolution

All disputes should first be brought respectfully to the Rabbi for resolution before escalation to leadership.

18. Policy Compliance

Non-compliance may result in warnings or suspension of privileges as determined by synagogue leadership.

These policies may be reviewed and updated annually by synagogue leadership.
